Heck, I’m old enough to remember Operation Haylift

Heck, I’m old enough to remember Operation Haylift. In the late 40’s a severe snowstorm stranded thousands of head of cattle and sheep in several states. The livestock of ranchers faced starvation. They asked the government for help, and got it! Thousands a bales of hay were loaded on “Flying Boxcars” and then dropped near the threatened animals. Thanks to “big government” the livestock survived, and the ranches were saved.
Odd isn’t it – some of the people crying the loudest about “big government” are the offspring of ranchers who benefitted from it! Go figure!
